Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyse the fault instruction or explanation given by an English guru at school, causing interpretation or response that does not comply with the guru's expectations. The objective of this research is to evaluate the classroom instruction failure at English Course Medan. This study was applied descriptive qualitative design. In the classroom interaction, researcher found four guru failures; two of them are giving instruction, and others are explaining topic failure.There are several factors that led to the failure of the guru in the learning process. The first, guru failure may be the caused by the unpreparedness of gurus in teaching. Gurus should well-prepared teaching scenario well so that failures can be minimized. Another factor is the guru was too overestimating the ability of siswa. Gurus expect siswa to know phrasal verb before the guru explained what it was. This could have an impact on frustrating siswa themselves who do not know anything.
