PERAN GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MEMBINA KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL SISWA DI SMA NEGERI I KUTALIMBARU KECAMATAN KUTALIMBARU KABUPATEN DELI SERDANG
The importance of students' emotional intelligence in improving the quality of school education is the reason this theme was adopted as material in this study. In this case the researcher discusses the Role of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Fostering the Emotional Intelligence of Students in SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru. As for the objectives of this study are (1) to determine the role of PAI teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru, (2) to find out the emotional intelligence of students in SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru, (3) to find out how the role of PAI teachers in fostering emotional intelligence of students in SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru. In achieving these objectives, qualitative research approaches are used with the type of descriptive research. The key research instrument is the researcher himself. Data collection techniques used by researchers are interviews, observation, and documentation. Data is analyzed by reducing data and drawing conclusions. The results showed that, (1) the role of PAI teachers in SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru was to be a parent in the school to guide students, transfer knowledge, and direct students towards better, (2) students who high emotional intelligence, they are more likely to easily control their feelings and emotions. While some students whose emotional intelligence is still developing, they tend not to be fully able to control their feelings and emotions, (3) the role of PAI teachers in fostering emotional intelligence of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kutalimbaru namely: (a) training students to be patient (controlling emotions), (b) provide direction and teachings on ethical manners (c) teach responsible behavior, (d) help students to be optimistic in facing problems and achieving goals, (e) directing students how to overcome conflicts that arise between them, (f) helps students improve their emotions and develop EQ.
